The Department of Radiology at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania is a highly specialized, full-service department which strives to meet all patient and clinician needs in diagnostic imaging and image-guided therapies.

Our clinical faculty comprised of 70 physicians performs over 300,000 diagnostic studies and therapeutic procedures each year.

Penn Radiology is recognized as a world leader in radiological education and research. The educational program features an outstanding residency program, ten clinical fellowships, basic science graduate and post doctoral programs and extensive continuing education activities.

The department has for more than a decade been among the leading U.S. Medical School radiology departments in NIH-sponsored

research funding with major programs in oncology, cardiovascular and neurological diseases as well as the development of new and improved imaging technologies.

In June 2007, our friend and colleague Sridhar R. Charagundla, MD, PhD, passed away unexpectedly at age 35, leaving behind his wonderful wife Jyothsna and his two beautiful daughters Mallika, age 4 years, and Tejasvi ,age 5 months. There have been many who have expressed a desire to reach out to Sridhar’s young family in this time of tragedy and great loss.
