The Personal Names Service gives OpenSRS Resellers white label access to the Tucows-owned portfolio of common North American and European last name domains. Because Tucows owns these domain names, our Personal Names Service is available exclusively to OpenSRS Resellers and can't be found anywhere else.

The Surnames Portfolio consists of over 39,000 domains and counting. The Personal Names Service can offer a suitable domain name for the top 100 surnames in the U.S. (according to 2000 U.S. Census data). Sixty-six percent of North Americans will find their name waiting for them in the OpenSRS Personal Names Service.

By using our proprietary analysis tool, we can quickly show you how many of your current customers have a match inside our Personal Names service. This sets you up to execute a quick and easy marketing campaign to drive immediate adoption and increase revenue per user (ARPU).

How the Personal Names Service Works

The Personal Names Service works on a shared domain principal and is different from traditional domain name sales: multiple users share domain names and are charged a recurring monthly fee for the Personal Names Service. OpenSRS bundles Managed DNS and a full OpenSRS Email Service mailbox, complete with 2GB of storage, IMAP, POP3, WAP and webmail access.

Users have control over both CNAMEs and A-records. Tucows retains ownership of the root domain name and DNS, including MX records.

Provisioning of the Personal Names Service is similar to the regular OpenSRS Domains Service registration process. Names can be provisioned either directly within the web-based Reseller Web Interface (RWI) or via our API. Full details are available in the OpenSRS documentation.
