WinZip is aninterface for working with ZIP files. You can see the contents of ZIPfiles and extract a single file or all files. You can also view textfiles, scan for viruses, and more. The built-in WinZip Wizard makeshandling ZIP files especially easy for novice users. The latestversion adds lets you open and extract UUencoded, XXencoded, BinHex,and MIME files (base64, plain/text, and quoted-printable).

- "King of compression"
Although this is the most compatible version to date, WinZip still relies on ZIP alone to archive your files. We would have liked to see support for RAR, ISO, and ACE archives. Overall, however, WinZip is a fantastic program, and the new features improve on what it does best. Whether you're an old pro or a new user, this is a must-have upgrade.
