Publisher's description of Opera 9.6
From Opera Software:Opera aims to product the fastest and most powerful Web browser available and make the most of your time online. The latest release is even faster with better support for Web standards. Opera 9.6 is quicker to start, faster at loading Web pages and better at running your favorite Web applications. New features include synchronizing custom Search engines and typed History with Opera Link, and a feeds preview that makes it easier to see the feeds content before subscribing to it.
Version 9.6 also adds enhanced speed and changes to Opera Mail, notably low bandwidth mode and the ability to follow or ignore threads.

- "Opera browser sings"
Opera 9.6 maintains the program's tradition of striving for the fastest, smallest, and most full-featured browser available. Opera covers the basics with tabbed browsing, mouse-over previews, a customizable search bar, advanced bookmarking tools, and simple integration with e-mail and chat clients. Mouse-gesture support, keyboard shortcuts, and drag-and-drop functionality round out the essentials.
Opera's extras push it to the top of the class. Integrated theme support previews themes from within the interface, and the new version sports a default redo that's an attractive balance between "dark" and "light" themes. Opera's desktop widgets can appear anywhere while Opera is running. The Wand utility combines autofill with saved passwords, and it's hard to ignore the addition of torrent support and real-time fraud protection. The latest version includes reasonable anti-malware protection courtesy Haute Secure.
The expanded features in 9.60 should make any non-believer do a double-take. Opera Link enables Bookmarks, the Personal bar, Speed Dial, and Notes synchronization across all other Opera instances. Quick Find improves the search tool, allowing for full text searching from the address field, the history panel, and opera:historysearch. The Status bar has been restored as a default, the Wand now lets users confirm a successful login before saving credentials, and spatial navigation--similar to Opera Mini and the Wii browser--has been introduced.
The new version is faster, has multiple back-end changes to handle code better, and expands Opera Link synchronization. We think Opera has what it takes to unseat even the biggest-name browsers. You just need to hear it sing.

Version: Opera 9.6
Pros: blink of an eye, and easy to use.
Cons: Have not found anything bad.
Summary: fits my budget, free!

Version: Opera 9.6
"Big improvement over recent Opera versions"
Pros: Fast page loads. Very stable. Easy to customize. Low impact on memory. Runs well in Windows NT4. Version 9.6 is much improved over previous 8.xx and 9.xx versions. The learning curve is minimal if you're running an earlier version of Opera.
Cons: Not useable at a few sites, so hang on to IE or FF. The Windows Installer is junk. If you're not running Vista, then download the classic installer.
Summary: These comments are based on a clean installation of Opera 9.6 on a PC running Windows NT4 Workstation with Service Pack 6a.

Version: Opera 9.6
Pros: Fast and smooth. It uses less memory than most browsers.
Cons: It will not work with certain plug-ins or on certain websites that require Mozilla and Internet Explorer.
Summary: This is a pretty good browser, but it is not perfect. I was using The World Browser, but it uses a fairly large amount of memory also. Opera works on most websites and it is the fastest browser that I have tested. Give it a try.

Version: Opera 9.6
"Speedy, light-weight, convenient, & simply everything!"
Pros: I think Opera has to be the best ever browser around. It does not hog memory, and speed dials is what that make me hop the ship, it is just so convenient. Also, integrated feed reader makes feed reading a breeze. On top of it all, it looks sleek!
Cons: Absolutely nothing!

Version: Opera 9.6
Pros: Very fast. I like the layout
Cons: It doesnt work with AIM mail(something about Active X), so I have to read my AIM mail through Opera Mail, but thats not too much of a hastle.
Summary: I took a chance on this after IE8 kept freezing up. Well actually I tried Mozilla first, which I really liked. But then I kept researching, and I found Opera. Its the best hands down. How did I ever function with out it.
