Publisher's description of Maxthon 1.2.4
From Maxthon International:Maxthon (formerly MyIE2) is a multipage browser based on the Internet Explorer core (IE 5.x or 6.0 required). It can open multiple Web pages in just one window, and it takes only a few system resources when you're surfing with the integrated user interface. The application supports special plug-ins and IE extensions, and its features include autoscrolling, form autofilling, external tools, plug-in support, a newsgroup-browsing mode, mouse gestures, customizable skins, and an Autohide panel. The latest release features improved theme support, enhanced stability, and updated skinning.
Version 1.2.4 offers improved stability and functionality.

- "Browse to the max"
A browser based on the Internet Explorer engine, Maxthon is probably something of a curiosity for most North American users. It never really caught on there, but elsewhere--especially China--it's one of the most popular browsers around. It renders pages fast and comes loaded with features, as if Firefox came with 90 percent of its most popular plug-ins.
All the basics are represented here, from tabbed browsing to skins to add-ons, and many of the rolled-in features make Maxthon hard to ignore. Some of our favorite features include rolled-in auto-form filling, the ability to set up bookmark groups that open on start-up--excellent for news or blogs, the ability to autoscroll Web pages, and pop-up and content filters for blocking ads and specific content formats you don't want. There are also customizable hotkey commands for such nifty features as auto-completing URLs, so if you type "download" and hold down the Ctrl key, it will auto-fill the "http://" and the ".com".
We also like the super drag-and-drop feature, which lets you directly select and drag keywords to a current Web page or directly to the address bar. Maxthon is fast, small, flexible, and easy to use, and the extra features make it a browser we highly recommend. This version, Classic, differs from the newer Maxthon in several ways--notably by being more stable and less customizable.

Version: Maxthon 1.2.4
Pros: Twice as good as the regular Internet Explorer browser. I also like it better than Avant, another popular IE upgrade. Tabbed browsing, fast surfing, and quick downloads. If you like IE, you'll love Maxthon. 5 Stars & TWO thumbs UP !

Version: Maxthon 1.2.4
Pros: Skinnable, and faster than IE. It takes few memory only.
Cons: It shares the sam vulnerabilities as IE since it's based on the IE engine. Get Opera 8!

Version: Maxthon 1.2.4
Pros: Faster than IE, although slower than Firefox or Opera. Skins are well designed, but there is no link or information on how to get more. There are a ton of configuration options. The ability to save favorites as groups is very useful, especially for internet research.
Cons: Since it is based on IE, shares every vulnerability that IE has. All of the extensive configuration options may intimidate novice users. Some of the options such as the "simple collector" don't have instructions as to what they do. Mouse gestures are good, but some are not present, such as the middle-click to open a new tab in the background. Must install a third-party plugin for the right-click context menu. If you want a replacement for IE to use when the occasion calls for it, than I wouldn't pass this by. I would recommend this as a secondary browser to Firefox, or Opera.

"excellent replacement for IE tabbed browsing"
Pros: based on IE engine, stable, has loads of features, tabbed browsing, if only the instability of IE is troubling you, this is the best.
Cons: none really
