FastStone Image Viewer is an image browser, viewer, converter and editor with an easy to use interface and a nice array of features that include resizing, renaming, cropping, color adjustments and more. It also includes an intuitive full-screen mode that provides quick access to EXIF information and thumbnail browser via hidden toolbars that emerge when you touch the edge of your screen with the mouse. Other features include a high quality magnifier and built-in slideshow with 150+ transitional effects, as well as lossless JPEG transitions, drop shadow effects, image frames, scanner support, histogram and much more. It supports all major graphic formats including BMP, JPEG, JPEG 2000, GIF, PNG, PCX, TIFF, WMF, ICO and TGA.

Version 2.20 may include unspecified updates, enhancements, or bug fixes.

"A completely free imaging workhorse"

For a free program, this multipurpose image tool strikes us as a good find. Although the main window looks too cluttered at first glance, it's intuitive enough after you get your bearings. FastStone Image Viewer for Windows boasts a nice design already, but you can customize it to your liking with several skins. Clicking a thumbnail puts a larger view of the shot in the lower-left pane, and you zoom in simply by dragging the mouse around. Though its image-editing tools can't compete with those offered by a full-featured suite, there's still enough here to make a decent amount of tweaks to your shots. You can resize, crop, remove red-eye, and adjust color, brightness, and contrast. You'll also find a few simple effects and filters, including Lens, Waves, and Morphs. FastStone Image Viewer for Windows can batch-convert files into a number of popular image formats including GIF, BMP, PSD, and PNG, and the slide-show creator allows you to apply transitions, specify the interval between images, and add your own MP3s as a soundtrack. We can recommend this program to everyone but professional designers.

"Geatness"

Pros: It provides tons of tools to get the job done and all of them are great. The program is free!!!

Cons: When resizing some images such as large gif that have transparent backgrounds, it sometimes turns the background of the image grey.

"Slow and bloated"

Pros: Nice ideas.

Cons: 2.2 version got noticeably slower due to the continued bloat of this fine program. Slow image viewer equals worthless image viewer.

"use so much RAM"

Pros: ...

Cons: It uses up alot of memory. The button for switching between
thumbnail view/windows view and up-one folder is too small and hard to
reach. When double-clicked, the thumbnail displays in fullscreen, where
as in Acdsee it will display in window view.

"I love this program. It's free and bug free. Yay FS!"

Pros: Works well with all other programs from within itself. Doesn't slow other processes.Does excellent image resizing. Everything about it is #1 in my opinion.

Cons: none. well the program icon is kind of wierd. But hey, it makes it easy to locate.
