"Formerly Intervideo WinDVD - Gone from OK to Terrible"

    by Lord_Glorfindel on January 6, 2009

Pros: None that I can find except the overall appearance - which means nothing

Cons: Intervideo's last upgrade was a huge mistake on their part trying update acceptable formats and added features, but it absolutely ruined the previous working version. It just needed some tweaks. Corel took the last bad version and made it even worse.

Summary: Since this is Corel's 2nd or more re-do of a bad Intervideo product, I assume they intend to keep the engine and try to gloss it over. Bad customer service too. Stay completely away from this. read more

"Good to its size, simple to use"

    by dinume4u on December 22, 2008

Pros: The interface looks stunning and has the real best rendering engine of all the professional editing software I've tried and also supports quite a lot of import and export fromats including 3gp

Cons: Events on the video track cannot be cut or moved as the ones on the overlay track.

"too many flaws for the price (and supposed experience)."

by zerozag on December 18, 2008

    Pros: clear and friendly enough

Cons: Crashes when loading MP4 video file. Hangs when saving "Smart package" (solved by downloading & installing last DX). Crashes (50%)when burning DVD...

Summary: Too many stops while performing very basic operations. Additionally no useful support by Corel. Corel behaves like a low profile newcomer. read more

"Some parts just do not work, poor support."

by allyab on December 14, 2008

Pros: It has a nice clip editing feature

    Cons: No phone support available.
    Capture DV video not working.
    Share/Preview not working properly.
Unstable with Vista 64 operating system.
Freezes and shuts down without explanation as to the cause.

Summary: Can not capture Avi files from DV camcorder. Older VS 10+ and Windows Movie maker have no problem with this. Share/ Preview do not work properly. I have tried Corel e-mail Support but they can not solve problem. No phone support available. The ca... read more

"Super Easy to Learn buy Has Fatal Flaws"

    by Joe_the_Geek on December 5, 2008

Pros: If you want to jump into a program to make video editing easy, Video Studio Pro X2 is one of the easiest to learn. The menus are set up well, and you'll be up and running in a couple of hours or less. Good program for newbies.

Cons: Corel Video Studio Pro X2 is unstable and often will hang or crash in the middle of a project that you are editing. Added to this, if you are working with higher quality video clips in the MPEG2 format,AVCHD or MTS, you're basically screwed.

Summary: Corel Video Studio Pro X2, it isn't much better than a toy editor or one of the freebie editors that you can pick up on the Internet. The only reason why it didn't get a one star rating was because it is useful for low end video editing needs. Not re... read more
