Version: Video Edit Master 1.8
Pros: Used it for AVI movie-composition, does get it done. Got a nice way of handling raw files and defining fragments. Creates seamless integrations. Has a good player in which one can easily go back and forth.
Cons: Has some quirks. Notably per frame edit does not seem to work as it should do. The same applies to ordering of fragments. Moving projects and raw files around is not handled any way.
Summary: Was happy to find it, but hopefully will be improved. read more

Pros: Did exactly what I wanted, easy to use, and it compiled 90 minutes of video in under one minute!!!
Cons: None at all!

Pros: Works good does the job. Easy to select wanted segments using start & stop buttons and then add segment.
Cons: needs more features - Format Factory is an easy way to convert the video formats Edit Master doesn't support.

"Might work for some, not for me though"
Pros: Zero install. Doesn't wreck anything. Generous of the author to publish it as freeware. It might work well on some files (other reviewers seemed to have success with AVI).
Cons: My efforts with mpeg2 files threw error asking if they are the same bitrate etc. I know they are. The output included some sections I'd not included in my edit & one section was upside down.
User interface is not terrible but is far from intuitive.Summary: Spend 2 minutes trying it to see if it's your free solution... but don't hold your breath. I'm off to try some others. read more
