    "I've been waiting for this..."

by Cheapster on August 11, 2005

Pros: Nvu is a nice, lighter weight alternative to the likes of Dreamweaver and FrontPage. Not only is it free, it's easier to navigate and doesn't hog system resources. It would be good for newbies, but more advanced users should find it useful, too. Applying custom styles and markup is easy, it supports UTF-8 extended characters, and it doesn't hog system resources. I used Dreamweaver for years, from version 1.0 through MX 2004. I always hated its klunky interface, and now I have an alternative that doesn't bog me down with all those unused bells and whistles.

Cons: Nvu-generated source code passes validation with flying colors, but it's formatting is a little funky. Not a major drawback, though.

"Remarkable results can be acheived in no time..."

by kewlceo on September 12, 2005

Pros: If you can use a word processor, you can use Nvu. Remarkable results can be acheived in no time with Nvu's approach of allowing you to create web pages as easily as you would type a word processing document.

How about getting your created pages uploaded to your web site? It's a snap since Nvu publishes them to your web site just by saving the document.

The help system is amazingly thorough, which is ironic since you probably won't need to spend much time there to figure out how to get your project done, as the application is so easy to use.

    by dend359 on November 1, 2005

Pros: Thid program is very very very easy to use.. If you are new at html and is looking for a html writrt. nvu is the best to pick, not frontpage or dreamweaver, those are just too hard comparing to Nvu! (BTW, this is the only prog. i use to make my site)

Cons: I wish Nvu could help me out on the rollover images but hey, it's still good!

    "this one's just right..."

    by Joe M on July 20, 2006

Pros: For my purposes, Dreamweaver or FrontPage are overkill. I don't want or need all the bells and whistles they offer, but I don't always want to use Notepad or "code-based" editors either.

Nvu provides just the tools I need, without all the extraneous junk that I don't. That makes it easier to use, and keeps it from sucking up all my PC's memory and disk space.

Cons: Don't expect it, or any WYSIWYG editor for that matter, to generate code that is as streamlined as one can "hand-code" with a text editor.
