Quick Tips: Manage Firefox 3's bookmarks Video Transcript
Bookmarks have changed in Firefox3! They used to be a simple HTML page, but in the new version of Firefox, they're actually a small database. I'm Tom Merritt from CNET.com with a few quick tips on how to manage bookmarks in Firefox 3. First, here's how to get an old-fashioned HTML list of your bookmarks. Start by going to Bookmarks and selecting manage bookmarks. Click on the star logo and choose export HTML. Just like in the old days. But here's what's not like the old days. Go back to the star menu and choose backup. That backs up your entire bookmark database. Now in that same menu choose restore. You'll see a series of dates. You can restore your bookmarks from any previous backup. If you're a little geeky and paranoid and just want to back up that bookmark database by hand, here's where to find it. Get to your Firefox directory in Program Files in Windows or Library under Application Support in OS X. Go into profiles, choose your profile and find the file places.sqlite. Copy that sucker wherever you need it. That's it for this quick tip, I'm Tom Merritt. CNET.com.
