Ochsner Medical Center-Kenner to unveil renovated ER

New Orleans CityBusiness,  Oct 30, 2008

A renovated emergency room at Ochsner Medical Center-Kenner will be unveiled during a free event from 1 to 3 p.m. Nov. 15 at the hospital, 180 West Esplanade Ave.

The ER received a face-lift to its waiting room, treatment rooms and physician offices.

"With 14 treatment rooms and the upgrades to the physical layout of the ER, patients can now expect a decrease in the average wait time from arrival to physician evaluation from 55 minutes to 35 minutes," Ochsner said in a press release. "The new layout and service upgrades also enhance the department's ability to deliver faster care to every patient. This is demonstrated by a decrease in patients who leave the ER without service from 7 percent to 1.5 percent."

A ribbon-cutting will be held at 1:30pm with Kenner officials, including Mayor Edmond Muniz, Police Chief Steve Caraway, Fire Chief John Hellmers and Councilman Ben Zahn. Jefferson Parish Councilmen Elton Lagasse and Chris Roberts are also scheduled to attend.

The event will also feature hamburgers, hot dogs, drinks, cookies, giveaways, music and activities for children.
