The Wolford Law Firm LLP announced that Michael T. Tomaino joined the firm as senior counsel. Tomaino formerly served as senior vice president and general counsel of RGS Energy Group Inc. and Rochester Gas and Electric Corp. and as vice president, general counsel and secretary of Goulds Pumps Inc. Tomaino also was affiliated with Nixon Peabody LLP, most recently as senior counsel and previously as a partner for 24 years within its predecessor, Nixon, Hargrave, Devans & Doyle (1971-1995). He is a fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and will focus his practice in the area of litigation, with a special emphasis in the areas of business disputes and commercial litigation. He also will continue to be available as a mediator and arbitrator in various types of disputes.

The Rochester office of Hiscock & Barclay LLP recently hired Nicholas J. Gallo as an as associate. Gallo focuses his practice in the area of intellectual property and technology. He is a 2008 cum laude graduate of Franklin Pierce Law Center and is admitted to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. His admission to the New York State Bar is pending.

SWBR Architects announced that Peter DeBraal, a project manager and senior associate, presented a case study on Cornell University's Riley Robb Hall Biofuel Laboratory Renovation at the Labs21 2008 Annual Conference held Sept. 16 to 18 at the San Jose McEnery Convention Center, Calif. More than 600 architects, engineers, builders, owners and operators attended to discuss challenges and trends in design, construction and operation of sustainable facilities. DeBraal and two representatives from Cornell discussed the firm's sustainable work on the $5.7 million lab.

Five Star Bank announced the appointment of Kimberly Frens to the position of manager and assistant vice president of its newlybuilt Henrietta branch. She will be responsible for supervising all branch operations as well as business development in the Henrietta market.

The Baird Nursing Home announced the addition of Val Brackley to its staff as a Licensed Practical Nurse. She will be responsible for providing patient care, including the administration of medication to residents, and aiding in treatments provided to residents.

EJ Del Monte Corp., owner and operator of Rochester Marriott Airport, announced two additions to its staff. Matthew Regatuso joined as sous chef, responsible for preparation of meals for hotel guests and menu items for banquets, meetings and other events that are hosted at the hote. Georgeann M. Straight was named assistant food and beverage manager, responsible for assisting the food and beverages manager by creating schedules, processing payroll, training associates and assisting associates in their daily activities.
