The Northern Marianas Islands national football team is an international team from the Northern Mariana Islands. The Northern Mariana Islands Football Association is a provisional member of the East Asian Football Federation. They participated as a guest team in the U-14 East Asian Football Federation Youth Festival in July 2006 in Beijing. The results - DPR Korea 0-6, Korea 0-16, China 0-11, Mongolia 0-5, Japan 0-12, Guam 0-6 and 0-12, Chinese Taipei 0-13. In December 2006, the EAFF admitted the Northern Mariana Islands as a provisional member.
The first team mainly competes in the East Asian Football Association and annual Marianas Cup versus Guam.
They participated in the 1998 Micronesia Games and 1999 Micronesian Cup finishing both times second.
Recently, they participated as a provisional member in the East Asian Cup 2008 Preliminary Competition Play-offs, but lost both matches to Guam.
Steve Menary's recent book, "Outcasts: The Lands FIFA Forgot," includes a detailed chapter on the emergence of the NMIFA and the Blue Ayuyus.
